September update: housing boom, virtual tours & video tip of the month

Last month, we brought you information on the Stamp Duty changes, and interestingly, how the changes haven’t been as influential in the surge in house sales as thought. This month, further research from The Resolution Foundation confirms that the current housing boom was not caused by the Stamp Duty Holiday at all. This is good news. It clearly indicates that the housing market is in good shape and that we can expect property transactions (and therefore floor plans, EPCs, and other property surveys) to continue at good levels for the foreseeable, despite the Stamp Duty holiday coming to an end in October.

Made Snappy

And along the same lines… one of our partners, “Made Snappy” has reported a whopping 600% increase in demand for 360-degree virtual property tours. Analytics data from Rightmove reveals that between November 2019 and June 2021, there was a huge increase in virtual tours in the UK, with 7% of lettings using it and 14% of homes for sale. This is a jump from 1% and 2% at the start of the data period.

Video Tip of the Month

This month’s video tip is aimed at our Energy Assessor users who need to calculate the heat loss perimeter (HLP) of a property. The floor tab within the zPlan software has lots of great features including HLP calculation. Simply select the wall you wish to highlight as HLP and the software will work its magic and automatically calculate it. This can then appear on the export of the plan, which is perfect for audits.
